Jordan Brand going all the way back to 1986 for the inspiration on its next AJ 1 colorway, the Air Jordan 1 "Letterman". 30 years ago, Michael Jordan appears on David Letterman during the beginning of his career for a rather interesting interview (video below). Inspired by MJ's red jumpsuit with blue trim in the interview, the sneaker features a bright red leather upper with a shiny blue outsole, swoosh logo, tongue, sock liner, and laces. The sneaker sits atop of a white rubber sole.
The Air Jordan 1 High "Letterman" is scheduled to hit retailers on April 30th, 2016. Retail will be $160. You'll be able to grab a pair on Nike.com and select retailers.

In 1986, MJ was only 23 years old coming off an shortened season due to a broken foot, but also his now iconic 63 points playoff performance in Boston Garden. While preparing to watch those same Celtics and the Houston Rockets square off in the Finals, he also stopped by David Letterman's then-NBC show for this hilarious and vintage interview.
